About Us
Our Story
Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, was established in December 2006 through Kebbi State law No. 6. The need for a university in the state was based on the growing number of qualified indigenes who could not gain admission into Nigerian universities due to limited capacity. The former Governor of Kebbi State, Senator (Dr) Muhammad Adamu Aliero (Garkuwan Gwandu), led the initiative to establish the state University.
state Executive Council approved the establishment, and the state House of Assembly passed the enabling bill. The National Universities Commission later granted a license for the University to operate as Nigeria’s 79th University. Academic programs began in January 2008 with 404 students. The University currently has 8,813 students, including 8,466 undergraduates and 347 postgraduates.
